Business Outlooks for 2012
The increasing maturity of hosted or "cloud" services makes small business IT infrastructure much less needed. Cloud service providers support important verticals (like accounting and financial services, healthcare, sales, etc.) and general services for larger companies or resellers to create their own cloud environments for internal use or resale.
Like all I.T. components, these services will continue to be commoditized and will drop in cost while delivering more and more capability. Emphasis for I.T. professionals will migrate from managing internal infrastructures and applications to assisting their customers in the effective deployment, migration and daily operations of cloud-based services.
